Our Pastor is Dr. James McGaghee. We joined Charity Baptist Church in Cantonment, FL in 2015. We are blessed to have a sending church that is solid on the fundamental doctrines of the faith and solidly behind us and the work in PNG. (https://charitybaptistchurch.org/)
We have been on this Missionary journey since we took our survey trip to PNG in July of 2010. We began raising our support in January of 2011 and landed in PNG in February of 2014.
Our first year we spent in the mountains in of the Gulf Province working alongside veteran missionaries Matt and Becky Allen and family as well as John and Selina Allen and others.
In September of 2015 we moved to Kiunga, Western Province where we served alongside Pastor Kendy Lamai in Kiunga Independent Baptist Church.
During those three years we invested our energy into many different areas. We endeavored to learn what we could from this already established ministry and pastor. At the same time we endeavored to use the gifts and training that we had to assist in many different areas. We assisted in youth ministry, Sunday School programs and training, preaching and teaching, as well as several different outreach ministries.
During that time Kiunga Independent Baptist Church started their own Christian School ministry known as Fly Christian Light Academy. They are currently in their 5 year and continuing to grow.
A new Church building is also under way on the property which will allow much needed expansion in the ministry. We are thankful for the small part that we were allowed to play in encouraging this ministry.
Our main focus during 2017-2018 was starting the ministry of Western Baptist Bible School. This school was started to train God’s people for God’s work. Specifically, we are focusing on training eligible men for ministry at this time. In the future the school may grow to include other areas of training.
In 2018 we finalized the purchase of 12 acres for our future ministry. At that time a small dormitory and several shipping containers were on the property.
In October of 2019 we plan to began Berean Independent Baptist Church. The church grew quickly from my family and a few others to running 75 people on an average Sunday.
After the church was completed, we began building our own home on the property. This house is large enough for us to have classrooms on the first floor and still allow us enough room on the second floor for our families’ accommodations.
This is our current house. We live on the upper floor and the lower floor is being used for our Bible Institute right now.
God blessed with a visit to another church planter in Mindi, Southern Highlands, Province in December of 2023.
